Beautiful Botanical Garden Wedding

Vibrant colors, lush florals, and lots of sunshine were the perfect ingredients for this Bridgerton-inspired bridal shoot. The gardens transformed into a theatre of beauty that looked so inviting. This tableau features unique and delicious-looking catering that makes you want to jump in and start tasting! So we only need some romantic drama—the bride and groom. 

Garden Weddings are a wonderful way to bring natural beauty into your wedding. The work is already done for you when it comes to decor, but it also means making sure that your vision will work. We love the style of this botanical affair. The color choice is eclectic and works with the garden theme. Bright yellow, pink, coral, red, and purple all come together to celebrate. Tulips, roses, poppies, and forsythia are on display and surrounded by vintage green glassware, blush pink glass plates, and gold candlesticks. We are jealous of the cream table linens and antique chairs! Imagine walking through a garden and stumbling upon all this pretty! 

The bride is stunning in an exquisite off-the-shoulder ruffled and embellished white gown (showing off the tattoo quite nicely!). The simplicity of her look is flawless, as shown by her full red lip and intricate hair jewelry. The bouquet is the finishing touch to this bridal portrait. The best flower in the garden! And she wore the perfect footwear for all the grass – sneakers. The groom gets the assignment right with a blue custom suit and stylish boutonniere though it’s the fitted vest that lifts the look.

We mentioned the food, right? That’s because the cuisine in this shoot is in a class all to itself. Not to be outdone, the cake is just right with icing flowers in the garden wedding color palette. The ceremony backdrop got our attention with white fabric strips laid over the top and woodland garden-inspired flowers. A beautiful botanical garden wedding, and we featured it in the latest West Coast Weddings Magazine!

Backyard Bliss is Chic + Intimate in Vancouver…Alexa + Keith are all over the classic beauty of friends and family, celebrating their love together and creating lifelong memories. We loved the vibe of this lovely wedding so much we featured it in our Vancouver 2021 magazine!

The story of this Vancouver wedding day starts with Alexa and her incredibly beautiful gown. The back has a stunning drop balanced by the ruffled sleeves and V-neckline. A simple veil is added to her graceful updo to complete her bridal style.  We love the elegance of her drop earrings and bracelets. Not to be forgotten are the pretty blush pink slip-ons! Her Wild Bunch bouquet features orchids, roses, and dried grasses. Her groom follows her impeccable style lead in a charcoal grey suit and sporting a grass and floral boutonniere. 

The ceremony brought a tear or two to everyone’s eyes as the couple exchanged vows. Afterward, guests enjoyed a bounty of wonderful cuisine (love the plate piled high with autumn foods!), and everyone drank to the newlyweds’ happiness. We especially loved the backyard bliss reception table epitomizing a West Coast wedding. The square table boasted deep reddish peach and blush flowers, artfully arranged at the table center, with the white taper and votive candles illuminating all the beauty. The chic and intimate supper was lit from above by cafe lights strung through the trees. 

The last few years show us just how much couples pivoted when it came to their BC weddings. The upside to it all is experiencing ceremonies and receptions about the commitment of vows given in front of close family and friends. The beauty of choosing how just one reception supper table would look, feel, and taste. And the memories of this are caught by the camera lens. Much to the surprise of most of us, these weddings created from necessity became exceptional by choice. Alexa + Keith’s is obviously one of those evenings where love and happiness are on the proverbial menu!

Old Hollywood + Modern Rose Wedding Inspiration…moody dark color palettes of red, burnt orange, gold, and black deliver the drama for this old Hollywood meets modern rose wedding inspiration. It is perfect for the couple who would like to set their Big Day Apart!

Instead of debating between the traditional white wedding dresses and black ones to make a statement, why not both? Walking down to the metallic circular arch with a feminine mermaid lace gown, entering the reception like a princess in an adorable ball gown, and concluding the night in a stunning black dress to create everlasting images for the guests. The staircase poses are a royal rebel bride setting, for sure! 

The floral designers from IDO Studio embraced the uniqueness by including queen protea in the bouquet to symbolize the beauty of a strong and powerful bride. The powerful colour selection is carried through the floral decor and is especially complementary to the brick walls. 

Classy black and gold, with a touch of the red invitation suite and gold wax seal, set the tone of the wedding. The reception wooden beauty was styled with a black runner, candles, and hand-tied napkins and is surrounded by gold Chiavari chairs with black cushions. The crowning touch is adding gold chargers, cutleries, and glasses. Red and coffee break rose centerpieces with gold leaves made the tablescape glamorous. The tablescape is finished with the settings, topped by chic black and gold menus and red roses on the matte black dining plates.

Heritage brick-and-beam construction with contemporary coastal designs of The Loft at the Earls Yaletown was perfect backdrop for this shoot. The venue has many cool and modern furniture and decorations. We especially love the emerald green sofa, black staircase, and neon sign which added stylish elements to the photos.

Weddings on a Budget...Not too long ago, the bride’s family was responsible for funding the wedding. But that notion has lost its foothold, and now financial responsibility often falls onto the couple. This one special day can get very costly for young couples just starting in life. Luckily, there are plenty of options to keep the price tag of a wedding attainable and still have it meet the requirements of your dream wedding. Here are a few ideas to make your wallet happy.

Micro Wedding

The pandemic has thrown a wrench in the works for many people’s weddings, but the new trend that has come out of these times is the micro wedding. A micro wedding is a small, intimate affair that saves the couple a ton of money. Instead of a guest list of 100 or more and all the food, drinks, and entertainment that go along with it, many couples are sticking to inviting only immediate family and very close friends. They may choose to keep the traditional formal wedding attire or go semi-formal to casual. The ceremony and reception can be the same but on a smaller scale, or you could opt instead for something like a day of wine and pairings tastings at a vineyard followed by a small ceremony. With a smaller group, your options are greater.

Destination Wedding

While a destination wedding to a tropical resort may sound dreamy and expensive, they’re actually about one-third the cost of the average traditional wedding. Destination spots in Canada, such as Vancouver Island, specialize in accommodating guests for weddings and will often provide most of the elements needed for a wedding in your package. They provide you with your wedding planner, so you don’t have to worry about details during your trip. Plus, your wedding is one day of your vacation, and the rest is your honeymoon. Like micro weddings, you’ll have a smaller number of guests that can attend, but they will be paying their way. And many of your guests will stay for several days and celebrate the newly wedded couple the entire time. Don’t forget that a destination wedding can be within your own country, such as the beaches and rainforests of Vancouver Island.

DIY Wedding

Having a wedding can be very involved, so many brides choose to employ the help of a wedding planner to work out all of the details. However, you can save money by forgetting a wedding planner and utilizing family and friends to help pull everything together. Instead of hiring someone to decorate, you could make your creative decorations and table centerpieces. Simple options like mason jars with ribbons tied around them and pebbles thrown in the bottom make lovely candle holders or flower vases. And when thinking about venues, consider a public space like a park to host your wedding. Weddings on a budget do not have to look like you are on a budget!

REASON 10 – Okanagan Dream Destination Weather

We know through experience brides often think of a peak summer wedding in the Okanagan. And yes, it is simply divine to marry during this time. Not to mention in July, Okanagan lavender is in full bloom and perfect for bridal bouquets! The summer encompasses lovely sun and heat and very little rain. It’s ideal for planning your outdoor wedding ceremony and reception.   Some parts of the Okanagan, such as Osoyoos, are located in the desert belt. Average temperatures are warmest in peak summer months. They are often reaching up to (35C) or (77F). Therefore sunset weddings are more suitable during this time.

REASON 9 – Off-Peak Season Pricing Perks

Let’s face it: The Okanagan Valley is a fantastic destination choice during the popular summer months. However, there are additional advantages to consider booking your wedding in the pre-or post-summer season. True, it’s a little more off-season as far as lake activities and sports. 

However, these times do make for overall more competitive hotel pricing.  And often, venue pricing becomes a little more reasonable in price point as well.  The added benefit is that your out-of-town guests can stay a bit longer. And enjoy an abundance of post-wedding festivities and tours.

REASON 8 – Easy Access from Western Canada and the US

Once you are in your designated area of the Okanagan, getting around this region is very easy. Highway 97 (The Okanagan Highway) is the main road that will take you straight from North Vernon to Southern Osoyoos. Many out-of-town guests may opt to fly into Kelowna International airport. And here there are lots of car rental options to choose from. Guests driving from Alberta and further East will find the highways both Southern and Northern also convenient for travel.

The resort’s gondola offers 22 kilometers of hiking trail splendor. Additionally, the high-speed chairlift accesses the bike park. Perfect for those action adventurists in your group. Kelowna hiking includes Knox Mountain, Angel Springs trail, just to name a few of the vast options here!

Wine tours 

Of course, you won’t want to miss booking a group tour of the spectacular vineyards that dot along the Okanagan valley. One of my favourite wine tour companies is Sip Happens Wine Tours. They are conveniently located in all central city locations in the Okanagan Valley. Tours run from April through to October.  Pretty much the entire wedding season! Our LGBTQ community will love Kelowna and the surrounding area when it comes to exchanging their wedding vows. The Okanagan Valley warmly welcomes our same-sex wedding community. Another of my favourite things to do while on your honeymoon is visiting Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. Especially if you are staying in the Osoyoos region, it’s just a quick drive from Osoyoos. Or better yet, rent bikes and take a leisurely ride over to experience some of the Okanagan’s best food and wine. Not to mention spectacular vineyard views!

Additionally, adding a plethora of fun lake activities for group vacation fun.  And, of course, those much-desired gorgeous wedding photographs.
