The Bride’s Closet is an award winning bridal shop located in an elegant 1893 Victorian heritage house with rich dark hardwood floors, ten foot ceilings and chandeliers.  The shop is located in the Old City Quarter in downtown Nanaimo and offers one of the most unique bridal shopping experiences anywhere.

The shop is owned by Fern, along with her husband Leroy, and even after 21 years in the wedding dress industry she still makes it her goal to ensure that every bride who walks through their doors is extremely happy and that when they walk out, they do so with the gown of their dreams.  Dresses are available in all budget ranges, style and size choices.  Beach dresses, vintage, glamour and traditional are all waiting to be chosen!  The selection is phenomenal with six hundred gowns, in sizes 2 to 32, from designers such as Justin Alexander, Lillian West, Sophia Tolli, Mon Cherie, Venus, and Canadian Designer  Lamour by Calla Blanche 

On-site Alterations

Fern feels that having alterations done on-site is highly important for a bride and has extensive personal experience with alterations and creating wedding dresses.

The store also has a wide selection of belts & veils, tiaras, jewellery, purses, and hair accessories.  As well, items for your wedding and reception such as place cards, favours, guest books, toasting glasses, table decorations, and a variety of other items from Wedding Star. 

The Bride’s Closet and Community

The Bride’s Closet is big part of the community, attending more bridal shows than any other bridal shop on Vancouver Island and is involved with local charities.

Fern and her husband are always eager to step up and supply the bridal fashion for photo shoots on Vancouver Island which is one of the reasons that The Bride’s Closet won the Industry Award at the 2014 Vancouver Island Wedding Awards for industry excellence! 
The Bride’s Closet won ” Best Bridal Boutique Experience” at the 2017 Vancouver Island Wedding Awards.

Virtual Bridal Show 

We have missed doing our 12+ bridal fashion shows this past year & decided to do our own!! Along with West Coast Weddings who did the florals, we invited West Motion Media to film our lovely models Arielle, Ashley & Erin in a variety of gowns from designers Sophia Tolli Lillian West & L’amour by Calla Blanche The beautiful bridal hairstyles were done by Jessica of Thrive Eco Salon We complimented hairstyles and necklines with pretty accessories from Laura Jayne Bridal Accessories & Arthur Harris. Shot on location at our shop & various places in the Nanaimo area. Janayh Wright Photography took some gorgeous photos of the models out and about Nanaimo. The highlight of the day was the amazing drone footage of the ladies at Jack Point, which is close to Duke Point ferry terminal, by Mary of Trueflight Film. More film & photos to come… We had so much fun doing this that we may just do it again in the future!!
