The Gin Deck editorial showcases the stylish trend of staging gorgeous wedding cocktail areas. Guests are able to admire and enjoy while tasting a signature cocktail or special liquors. Absolutely a wonderful idea especially for outdoor weddings! A lovely twist to this Gin Deck is that all the pretty was sourced within 30 km of the venue.
The Maple Bay Manor boasts an inviting “Gin Deck’ overlooking Lake Quamichan so a signature drink was a must. Brennan from Stillhead Distillery was more than happy to pass on a bottle of his craft distilled Prime 23 London Dry Gin. The result? These lovely Rhubarb Gin Collins to showcase on a deck filled with antique furniture shopped by Tavera at Fallen Olive Inklings and Designs and Ashley from The Vintage Brush.
A Cowichan Valley wedding wouldn’t be complete with out a local wine to celebrate the day. Maria and Xavier from Cherry Point Estate Winery graciously gave a bottle of their ‘Spritzy Rose’. A perfect addition to a garden wedding.
The over the top floral is all grown at a non sprayed local farm with foraged greenery. The anemones contrast wonderfully with the pink and purples in the bouquets and arrangements. The antique prints on the furniture and throw pillows are in similar color tones lending the entire arrangement an air of ‘imperfect perfection’. Vintage dishes and artfully placed floral showcase the view of the outdoor garden creating a seamless transition between the two.
The desserts! Cheryl from The Chocolate Pearl provides a selection of handcrafted chocolates filled with local ingredients – coffee from Drumroaster Coffee, green tea from Westholme Tea Farm to lavender from Damali Lavender Farm. These were set alongside home-made lemon curd filled meringues topped with fresh fruit, chocolate dipped strawberries and of course two stunning cakes also from Susan at Cobble Hill Cake Co. The bride and groom’s cakes were adorned with floral from Little Bee Blooms.
We can’t think of a better way to unwind after a wedding ceremony than stylish cocktails. This unique vintage themed Gin Deck does it perfectly with the view of a spectacular sunset over the lake.
