One trend that we are enjoying is the gorgeous floral crowns.  Once reserved for the hippie bride, bridal wreaths are everywhere. Traditional brides combine floral crowns with veils, while bohemian brides wear them atop loose curls.

Head wreaths for brides are a way to create a more casual look for the formal bride. There is no reason why you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Are you wearing a cathedral veil for a church ceremony? Why not change it out to a floral crown for those beach photos? Or have your wreath ready for the pre-wedding photos?

Fabulous Wedding Shoes! “I want to wear boring shoes on my wedding day,” said no bride ever!  These fabulous shoes prove that anything goes for those with a flair for the original.  We love the sparkle, the vintage, and the colors that grace bridal soles lately…

But wait, you say, shouldn’t comfort be the most important consideration for your wedding day?  While it’s true that most bridal couples these days will end up trekking through nature at some point for those must-have photos, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your ‘sole’ dreams of an outrageous pair of shoes.

The most important way to ensure you are comfortable in your fabulous wedding shoes (or boots!), no matter your choice, is to break them in far before your big day. Please don’t pull your shoes out of their box for the first time the morning of your nuptials—you have to be a masochist to try that! So practice wearing your special day footwear far in advance.

Photographers quickly point out that they can capture amazing shoe photos early in the day. They prefer bridal parties with ‘sensible’ footwear waiting in the wings for outdoor photography sessions.  Of course, when it comes to the first dance, you will still want the fab shoes to be around, but there is no rule saying you must keep them on through the reception. (Check out this pair of Wizard of Oz-inspired ruby red slippers!)

What to wear for the casual part of your day? If you are going through the forest, you may need lace sneakers or a pair of stylish rubber boots.  However, if you are going to the beach, then be sure to check out the latest trend of bejeweled flip-flops!

So feel free to go for outrageously beautiful or simply outrageous shoes on your wedding day – but keep a pair of comfy ones within reach.  After all, your wedding day is the best excuse ever for a shoe adventure!

Guests were enchanted by the ‘Entertainment Edition’ of the famous Fleur de Lis event held this year at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Star Sapphire Ballroom. An antique glasshouse and veiled beauty! We are so thrilled to showcase this Hatley Castle wedding editorial locally, which inspires those who love historical elegance. The glasshouse hales from over a hundred years ago and was restored through an endowment to Hatley Castle. In the past, no grand estate was without a glasshouse. They housed tropical plants meant to provide a warm sanctuary during winter weather. Hatley Castle gave permission for this wonderful historical greenhouse to be the backdrop for this lovely Vancouver Island wedding editorial.

We especially love the botanically inspired stationery that complements the deep-toned florals and greenhouse greenery. The décor features rich autumn tones and nonconventional elements within a historical venue. The ethereal setting is paired with modern geometric shapes to create an original atmosphere. Geometric shapes are a big trend for weddings—the metallic shades work with any colour you may choose.

The lovely veil adds to our bride’s slightly mysterious feel. The gown features a cut-out in the bodice along with peek-a-boo lace around the shoulders. Our favorite is the headpiece that duplicates the geometric shapes seen in the décor!

Are you looking to recreate this look for your photos? Start looking around for older buildings, heritage homes, or perhaps a conservatory/atrium in your area. English Inn Wedding Infused with Stunning Fall Colours is filled with delicate hints of whimsy. This stunning fall Vancouver Island wedding shoot that betrays a love of all things simple. The English Inn has all the comforts of the modern world but, with it’s architecture, harkens to days gone by. The Inn hosts many weddings each year and the moated gazebo with tall pillars provides the perfect setting for a romantic reception. We look forward to seeing the future changes to this wonderful venue.

Laura, at Caribou Creative, dreamed up the navy, gold, and ivory suite with gold lining and laser cut lace detail. The deep blue linen paired with a plum runner is a nod to the change of seasons while the lush greenery and white hydrangeas acknowledge the summer that is passing. The gold shimmer accents add a touch of whimsy that is reflected in the charger plates, champagne napkins, gold cutlery and the cake pedestal. The lanterns added to the romantic tone with lit candles. Topping the cake is a pair of pears which serves as an amusing pun! and was created with love by Laura of Schur to Please boutique cakery.

The first dress bride Sonora is wearing is reminiscent of what an English Rose would wear with it’s blush tone. The second dress, a strapless beaded, chiffon complemented by gold necklace and matching earrings reflects the hints of gold in our decor. Marian, from Kenmar Flower Farm, created the bouquet with dazzling mondial roses, burgundy dianthus, and viburnum berry with an ivory ribbon.

Sonora’s hair is styled with loose curls and partially pinned back to show off her beautiful cheekbones. Erin Bradley accented her features with a smokey eye in browns and plums for the fall theme and finished with a peach toned lip.

The groom, Tyler, wore a heather grey suit with a deep purple lining. Outlooks by Men provided a plum bow tie and navy vest over a white, crisp shirt. The boutonniere mirrors the bouquet with a single mondial rose and burgundy dianthus. This English Inn Wedding infused with stunning fall colours is full of beauty and love!
