“This incredible and misty (ok, downright rainy) Pacific Northwest-style elopement in the Cowichan Valley was more than we could have imagined. What was looking like a sunny day quickly changed to rain, and we welcomed beautiful, moody weather. The clouds settling in against Mt. Prevost was the perfect backdrop for this project.”

“Planned over six months, each vendor was free to use their creative judgment in their work. Everyone went above and beyond to create this perfect day.”

“It was my intention for fresh spring colors to be the focus of this project—and, of course, some cute fluffy llamas! They were so cheeky-literally! They would turn their bums to the camera as soon as everyone was in position. It definitely inspired some laughter on our soggy day.”

This project was also intended to showcase all Vancouver Island wedding creativity offers. I am always in awe of the variety and resources on this rock. When it comes to your wedding or elopement, I wanted to create a reminder that your day can truly be anything you wish it to be. The molds have been broken and tossed away, celebrate as you please! Your vendors are full of ideas and are here to make your wildest dreams come true. We love to help bring a vision to life or even help create one for you. Want to get married in the forest with llamas as your witnesses? Sure! Have epic florals and an amazing Hair & Makeup team that can travel to you?! It can happen! Stylish Southwest Wedding Inspiration

Stylish Southwest Wedding Inspiration in Cowichan Valley! The stylish setting of the ever evolving landscape of Vancouver Island’s Wine District showcases talented local wedding influencers. The original idea came during a hike in the dying days of summer and noticing the neutral palette of the sun baked grass, sagey greens and the golden sunset evoked the feelings of the Southwest.

Muted colours and hazy atmosphere play among the pops of rich jewel tones to create this intimate sunset elopement look. We love the eclectic mix of fabrics, foliage and textures that showcase the beauty of Cowichan Valley. Cushions, footstools, and cactus litter the landscape around the couple including a peacock fan highback rattan chair covered in greenery. The tablescape features robins egg blue flatware and dishes along with vintage candlesticks. An amazing use of colourful foods allows for some astonishing ring photos (figs, lemons and grapes!) and décor.

The naked cake features beautiful flowers and fruit in a field setting and surrounded by antique glass and unique decor. The floral provides the visual surprise with white pampas grass, succulents, yellow and burgundy dahlias and beautiful greenery choices. The bridal hat filled with floral is one of the best things in this inspiration palette!

The gorgeous bride shines in a lace crop top with a perfect ‘twirly’ skirt. The braided hair and natural makeup complete the boho bridal style. Her groom complements perfectly in his grey/blue ensemble with suspenders and bow tie.

Not to be forgotten is the macramé backdrop with bohemian rugs that inspire the ceremony. There is even a rug down the ‘aisle’! It is obvious why we chose this shoot to be featured in the 2020 Vancouver Island West Coast Weddings Magazine. We are really excited to showcase the diversity of the local vendors who brought this Stylish Southwestern Wedding Inspiration to life!

Local Love – A Cowichan Wedding Social

An elegant and sophisticated evening highlighting the amazing wedding vendors from the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. The First Annual Wedding Social is hosted by Susan of Cobble Hill Cake Co. , Natalie of Champagne Rose Events and Adria of Little Bee Blooms at the beautiful Blue Grouse Winery.

Taking place February 1st, 2020, this wedding social will elevate the typical wedding fair, highlighting the amazing vendors from the Cowichan Valley.

A curated group of vendors will show their top-quality services and wares, attendees will see amazing possibilities for wedding services in the Cowichan Valley. We truly want brides and grooms-to-be to see the what is available locally, to make their big day extra special!

Tickets

Tickets for this event are $20 which will include a glass of Blue Grouse wine or a non-alcoholic beverage.

Local Love + 100 Mile Cowichan Valley Wedding

Local Love is a wedding editorial dedicated to the The Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. It is an amazing and beautiful area rich in wineries, farmland, forest, lakes and ocean. So, of course, it is also the perfect backdrop to weddings!

The inspiration for this eye popping editorial stemmed from the “The 100 Mile” book that strived to source and eat food grown within 100 miles of where you live. Susan Rodgers, of Cobble Hill Cakes, thought she would take this idea to 30 km of where she lives and show the rich array of wedding opportunities around her. And so the planning and sourcing of this wedding celebration began and ended within the Cowichan area (the exception being the bridal gown as there is shop in Cowichan!!)

The shoot took place at The Maple Bay Manor where twenty local love wedding professionals purposely planned around the world-renowned rhododendron garden dating back to the early 1900’s. The colors of the rhododendrons, cherry and magnolia trees showcased the natural beauty of Cowichan Valley. A theme grew with inspiration from the excitement of the upcoming royal wedding and the beautiful gardens where it was taking place. Think ‘casual English garden wedding’.

The bride is radiant in lace with floral grown right on a non-sprayed flower farm in Cobble Hill and foraged from local gardens. We love the incredible sunset shots on the lake and the plethora of water lilies surrounding the couple. The ‘Gin Deck’ is an inspired idea for using all the venue space.

Congratulations to all the Cowichan Valley locals who came together and proved what an incredible beautiful wedding area they live in! And an inspired idea!

Lace & Lavender Wedding Dreams in Gorgeous Vineyard

Lace & Lavender Wedding Dreams! Bright blue skies and rolling purple fields created the perfect backdrop for the ‘Lavender Dreams’ styled shoot. Beautifully captured, and meticulously planned, this look was inspired by the grandeur of stunning landscapes, flowing gowns, and vintage Hollywood glamour.

The idea of a luxurious dress came to life with this stunning gown and cathedral veil that floated on air. Delicate, handcrafted Amethyst and Gold jewelry with bold hair and makeup completed the bridal look. Lace and lavender are a perfect match for this bride.

The search for the perfect backdrop came by way of Damali Lavender & Winery, located in the Cobble Hill area of beautiful Vancouver Island. The fields of lavender were perfect for dreaming of florals that were garden inspired. The flowers were lush and pastel in colour including café roses with a handpicked feel.

Inspired by the French countryside, a romantic tablescape design was designed around a striking custom-made French blue tablecloth. Pale grey accents, subtle touches of purple were entwined with champagne and delicate clematis vine. Lustrous glass dinnerware pieces were added to enhance the look. Various tones of blue were then carried throughout the shoot to pop against the lavender, including a tufted teal chair and pale blue hand-died silk ribbon. A delicate floral printed menu and stylish invitation suite accented the décor perfectly.

Plan the wedding of your dreams all in one place! The Cowichan Valley’s top wedding specialists will be under one roof at the 4th annual Cowichan Valley Wedding Show. Bring your entourage and enjoy the 2018 trends for bridal gowns, bridesmaids dresses, tuxes and suits provided by The Bride’s Closet and Outlooks for Men.

There will be door prizes, swag bags, and lots of special treats for the Brides and their guests. Music will be provided by Legacy Productions, our own in-house DJ.

The entry fee for brides is $5 in advance or $8 at the door. Guests of the bride are by donation. All proceeds will be donated to a local charity.

First 50 brides will receive gifts bags! There will be door prizes, live demos, appies, and a cash bar!
